The Geneseo women's softball team traveled to Oneonta today to complete the doubleheader suspended from Friday and swept the Red Dragons to secure a spot in this week's SUNYAC Playoff Tournament. In the opener, sophomore Jessica Steubing hit a two-run homer in the first inning after Jane LePage reached on an error and first year Sam Trapasso hit a solo homer to pace the Knights to a 4-1 win. Junior Molly Walsh was 1-3 with a run and senior Janine Montera allowed three hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts to earn the win. In the second game, Geneseo scored four runs in the third inning, including a two-run single by LePage, who finished 2-3. The Blue Knights trailed 5-4 headed to the seventh inning, but scored four runs, including a three-run homer by junior KK Schaus to claim the win. Steubing went 2-3 and sophomore Katie Gallagher got the win in relief by allowing one hit and one run in 2 2/3 innings. Montera scattered seven hits and allowed four runs with two walks and six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Geneseo moves to 19-17 overall and 10-8 in SUNYAC play. The Knights travel to Cortland on Thursday for the SUNYAC Tournament. Seeds and opponents will be announced once all the regular season contests have been played.
