The Potsdam Bears, seeded second, defeated the visiting #3 Geneseo Blue Knights this afternoon in the semifinals of the SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament, 18-17. Geneseo jumped to a 6-4 lead after one quarter and maintained the lead at 8-7 at the intermission. Potsdam tied the score at the end of three quarters at 10 and continued the onslaught resulting in a 16-14 lead. Junior Brendan Kurpis scored with 5:59 left and junior Jeff Watson converted with 4:52 remaining to tie the game at 16 for Geneseo. Potsdam reclaimed the two-goal lead with goals with 2:39 remaining and the eventual game-winner with 1:25 left and Kurpis completed the scoring for Geneseo with two seconds left. Senior Craig Lange completed his stellar career with 99 goals and 113 assists for 212 points after scoring one goal and seven helpers for eight points to lead the attack. Kurpis finished with five goals and one assist, senior Evan Bryant scored five times and Watson scored three goals and one assist. First year Tim Burgess added two goals, senior Ray Ryan scored once and sophomore Frank DiSanti won 19-39 faceoffs and scooped 14 groundballs. First year Ryan Zaremba allowed nine goals in 35:06 of action and Noah Berg allowed nine goals and made three saves in 24:54. Geneseo completes their season with a 7-7 record.
