Outdoor Track & Field

Select members of the outdoor track and field team traveled to the Gator Invitational on Friday night for a non-scoring meet and junior Alyssa Smith highlighted the performances by posting an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 10:39.31 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sophomore Marissa Liberati won the 5,000 meters in an NCAA provisional time of 17:22.94 and Kelly Brunscheen won the 800 meters in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:17.25.

On the men's side, Geneseo turned in a pair of NCAA provisional times as Lee Berube won the 5,000 meters in 14:33.42 and senior Bill Juda finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:20.10. The Blue Knights saw six ECAC-qualifying performances as Nwana Okafor jumped 6.98 meters in the long jump, Tom Clark, Mark Streb and Lee Gabler ran 3:53.64, 3:55.43 and 3:59.07, respectively, in the 1,500 meters, junior Eddie Novara finished fourth in the 5,000 meters in 14:57.97 and junior Greg Izzo ran fifth in the 400 hurdles in 55.18.

Geneseo travels to Moravian College for the ECAC championships on Thursday.
