Women's Field Hockey
The women's field hockey team traveled to #18 William Smith tonight and dropped a 5-1 decision to the Herons. Geneseo played the nationally-ranked Herons even throughout the majority of the first half, before William Smith netted a pair of goals in the final 3:22 for a 2-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, William Smith built a 5-0 lead until Geneseo got on the board at the 57:04 mark. Sophomore Kerry Hosford notched her second goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Kayla DeAngelis. Junior Caitlyn Dowell started in goal and allowed five goals with two saves in 52:52, while classmate Nicole Zito stopped one shot in 17:08. The Blue Knights fall to 6-4 on the season and travel to Brockport on Friday.
The women's volleyball team traveled to Roberts Wesleyan tonight and lost in three sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19. Sophomore Noelle Morrison dished out 20 assists to pace the attack with senior Kat Strickland posting six kills and sophomore Ronnie Guszcza contributing five kills. Junior Laura Galvin had nine digs as the Blue Knights fall to 11-8. Geneseo participates in the Nazareth Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The women's tennis team traveled to Rochester today and dropped a tough 6-3 decision to the highly-touted Yellowjackets. Seniors Reggie Connelly and Lauren Johnson won 9-8 (6) at third doubles as Rochester jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles play. Seniors Monica Vieth and Julia Passik lost a tough 9-8 (2) match at first doubles and Shiho and Kaho Sato dropped a close 8-6 decision at second doubles. In singles action, first year Amanda Rosati won 6-3, 7-5 and junior Sarah Shields won 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles for the Blue Knights. Vieth dropped a close match at first singles, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 10-3 in the super tiebreak. Geneseo is 6-1 on the season and hosts Cortland on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
