The Geneseo men's soccer team traveled to Oneonta (6-2-2/3-0-1 SUNYAC) this afternoon and lost a tough 2-1 decision in overtime as the Red Dragons scored just 5:21 into the extra session. Oneonta broke a scoreless tie with only 8:28 remaining in the game, but the Blue Knights came back to tie the score as 88:07 when senior Matt Solimano (pictured left) hit a free kick from midfield that deflected off first year Neil Allen's head and into the goal for his third of the season. Senior Sam Murphy made two saves in taking the loss as the Blue Knights fall to 6-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in SUNYAC. Geneseo hosts Nazareth on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The Geneseo women's volleyball team continued with the Nazareth tournament this afternoon and dropped matches to Medaille and the host Golden Flyers. In the opener, sophomore All-Tournament Team pick Noelle Morrison (pictured left) dished out 41 assists with nine digs and three kills in a 21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-23 loss to Medaille College. First year Jessica Prater had 12 kills, senior Kat Strickland combined 10 kills and four blocks and first year Sarah Dewey posted nine kills. In the second match, Morrison had 22 assists in a three-set loss to Nazareth, 26-24, 25-16, 25-20. Strickland had nine kills, while junior Laura Galvin and senior Alex Hughes each notched nine digs. Geneseo has dropped six straight to fall to 11-12 on the season. The Blue Knights travel to RIT on Wednesday.
The Geneseo women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 margin to visiting Oneonta this afternoon as the Red Dragons scored the game-winner at the 52:02 mark. On the play, Oneonta forced the ball to the endline and crossed back to the near post at three yards for the lone goal of the game. Geneseo was held to two shots for the game. Sophomore Julia Sanger made four saves in taking the loss. Geneseo falls to 7-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in SUNYAC and travels to Keuka on Wednesday.
