Women's Field Hockey
The Geneseo women's field hockey team scored the opening three goals of the game and held on for a 3-2 victory over host Ithaca this afternoon. Senior Abby Sayler scored the lone goal of the first half, her third of the year, on an assist from sophomore Bridget McGovern at the 4:09 mark. In the second half, McGovern scored her sixth goal of the season on an assist from junior Rachel Atkins on a penalty corner situation at 40:44 and sophomore Katie Farley (pictured left) struck unassisted 48 seconds later to complete the Geneseo scoring. Ithaca scored their initial goal at 63:05 and added a penalty stroke at 65:45 for the final. Junior Caitlyn Dowell made two saves to earn the win as the Blue Knights advance to 10-8. Geneseo travels to Skidmore on Saturday for their regular season finale.
The Geneseo women's volleyball team traveled to Ithaca tonight and dropped a three-set match, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19. Senior Kat Strickland had eight kills and two blocks, sophomore Noelle Morrison had 25 assists and senior Alex Hughes added 16 digs. First year Jessica Prater contributed six kills and three blocks and Courtney Long totaled six kills. Geneseo falls to 16-17 and participates in a tri-match on Saturday with Potsdam and host St. John Fisher.
