NCAA Atlantic Region Men's Cross Country
The nationally ninth-ranked Geneseo men's cross country team qualified automatically for the NCAA Division III championships for the ninth consecutive and 10th overall time after placing second with 95 points at the Atlantic Region championships this afternoon held at St. Lawrence University. The host Saints, ranked 11th in the latest USTFCCCA Division III poll, scored 89 points to win the team title and New York University was third with 103. Senior Lee Berube (pictured left) won the individual regional title for the second year in a row after covering the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:41, just two seconds off the course record he set at the pre-regional race on October 8. Senior Eddie Novara ran third in 25:05, junior Tom Clark was 16th in 25:51, senior Chris Carter placed 36th in 26:26 and sophomore Chris Moore ran 39th in 26:25 to complete the scoring runners. Senior Mark Streb and AJ Corcoran ran 59th in 26:46 and 92nd in 27:12, respectively. The Blue Knights travel to Winneconne, Wisconsin for the NCAA Division III championships hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday, November 19.
NCAA Atlantic Region Women's Cross Country
The Geneseo women's cross country team, ranked sixth nationally, finished second with 91 points at the NCAA Atlantic Regional at St. Lawrence this afternoon to qualify for the NCAA Division III championships for the 13th straight year and 18th overall. Eleventh-ranked St. Lawrence posted 77 points to win the event, 16th-ranked Plattsburgh was third with 99 and eighth-ranked Rowan placed fourth with 113. Senior Alyssa Smith (pictured left) paced Geneseo with a sixth place performance in a time of 22:18 over six kilometers. Senior Ashley Jones was 16th in 22:34, first year Cassie Goodman ran 20th in 22:47, junior Danae Polsin was 21st in 22:48 and junior Emily Sullivan ran 28th in 22:55 to complete the scoring. First year Alyssa Knott was 39th in 23:13 and junior Brigid Heenan posted a 43rd place in 23:19. Geneseo travels to the NCAA Division III championships hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Winneconne, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 19.
