The host Medaille Mavericks hit 10 of 28 from the three-point line, built a 13-point lead at half and cruised to a 76-56 win over the Geneseo men's basketball team in the season opener for both teams. Sophomore Jordan Jones hit 7-15 from the floor and 3-4 from the line for 17 points to lead Geneseo. Sophomore Connor Fedge and first year James McKenna had eight points each, with the latter grabbing eight rebounds. First year Gordon Lyons added six points and six boards. The Knights were 21-53 from the field, 0-5 from the arc and 14-20 from the line. Geneseo travels to the Eastern Connecticut tournament on Friday to take on St. Joseph's College.
