NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships







Men's Cross Country

Senior Lee Berube (pictured left) covered the eight-kilometer course in 23:49 to finish as the national runnerup at the NCAA Division III Cross Country championships at Winneconne, Wisconsin in leading Geneseo to a program-best fourth place team finish with 235 points. Berube finished behind individual champion Ben Sathre, a senior from St. Thomas (Minn.) who finished in 23:44. North Central (Ill.) won the event with 110 points, Haverford (Pa.) was second with 172 and Washington University of St. Louis was third with 206. Senior Eddie Novara earned his second consecutive cross country All-America award by finishing 25th in 24:38 and senior Mark Streb was one spot out of a national certificate with a 36th place time of 24:47. Junior Tom Clark ran 60th in 25:00, senior Chris Carter was 187th in 25:52, senior AJ Corcoran ran 189th in 25:53 and sophomore Chris Moore placed 263 of 279 runners with a time of 26:44. Geneseo's previous best team finish came in 2009, when they placed sixth. The Blue Knights have made nine consecutive and 10 overall appearances at the men's cross country nationals.


Women's Cross Country

The Geneseo women's cross country team placed 12th for the second year in a row as the Blue Knights scored 380 points at the NCAA Division III Cross Country championships at Winneconne, Wisconsin. Senior Alyssa Smith (pictured left) led the Geneseo contingent with a 65th place finish in a time of 22:04 over the six kilometers. Junior Danae Polsin ran 84th in 22:12, senior Ashley Jones was 101st in 22:18, first year Cassie Goodman ran 108th in 22:21 and junior Brigid Heenan completed the scoring five with a time of 22:57, good enough for 189th. First year Alyssa Knott ran 209th in 23:09 and junior Emily Sullivan placed 212th of 277 runners with a time of 23:13. The Blue Knights have run at 13 consecutive and 18 overall national championship meets.
