Junior Melissa Graham hit 7-17 from the field and 4-4 from the line on the way to 19 points with eight rebounds and six assists in leading the visiting Geneseo women's basketball team to a 73-59 win over Old Westbury. Geneseo trailed 35-33 at the intermission, but held Old Westbury to 24 points in the second half, including 1-13 from the three point line. Senior Katelyn Charbonneau went 5-11 from the floor, 2-4 from the arc and 1-3 from the line for 13 points with seven boards and four helpers, sophomore Lea Sobieraski hit 6-12 for 12 points with nine caroms and senior Bri Dunton added 10 points with seven assists and no turnovers from her point guard position. Geneseo controlled the rebounding battle, 50-39, including a game-high 12 by first year Shannon McGinnis. Geneseo is 2-0 on the season and participates in the first round of the Wendy's College Classic on Tuesday, November 29.
The women's equestrian team traveled to Cazenovia this afternoon and finished in fourth place of nine teams. Sophomore Jordan Laux and junior Kristin Rabb won first place awards for the Blue Knights, the former in Walk/Trot and the latter in Advanced Walk, Trot, Canter. Senior Katie Roberts claimed a second in Open class over fences and junior April Krenzer won a second on the flat in the Novice equitation. Geneseo is off for the remainder of the semester and continues their season at Cazenovia on Saturday, February 25.
