The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the second version of the fall standings for the 2011-12 NCAA Division III Learfield Directors Cup and the Geneseo Blue Knights stand in 27th place of 171 scoring institutions with 134 points, falling from ninth in the initial standings. There are approximately 440 institutions in Division III vying for Directors Cup points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
Geneseo is ranked fifth of the New York State schools behind Cortland (Sixth with 205 points), St. Lawrence (Eighth with 194.5 points), Hobart/William Smith (12th with 161 points) and Skidmore (16th with 153). The Knights received 80 points for fourth place in men's cross country and 54 points for 12th place in women's cross country.
Six of the seven fall sports have been completed in the academic year-long competition with football still to be determined. The final fall standings are scheduled for release on December 21.
