Men's Swimming & Diving
The Geneseo men's swimming and diving team took a nine-point lead into the final day of the 2012 SUNYAC Championships at Erie Community College as they have 479 points to 470 by Cortland. On Friday, senior Drew Rogers won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:43.78, anchored the second place 200 medley relay team with senior Josh Kaplan, senior CJ Schaub and junior Austin Brennan to a time of 1:34.84 and anchored the second place 800 freestyle relay team with senior Nate Foley, junior Frank Schiappa and senior Dan Strothenke to a time of 7:01.74. In other top performances, Bryan Schaub was third in the 400 IM in 4:14.21, Brennan finished third in the 100 fly in 52.14 and CJ Schaub claimed third in the 100 breaststroke in 58.04. Three swimmers finished in fourth place tonight as Foley posted a 1:46.71 in the 200 free, senior Ken Pink swam a 58.32 in the 100 breast and Kaplan went 52.73 in the 100 back. The meet concludes on Saturday.
Women's Swimming & Diving
First year Abby Max won the 200 freestyle in an NCAA provisional time of 1:52.58 and anchored the winning 800 freestyle relay team with sophomore Lily Powell, sophomore Corinne Vairo and junior Elyssa Max to a time of 7:45.61 as the Geneseo women's swimming and diving team lead the 2012 SUNYAC Championships at Erie Community College with 472 points to second place Cortland's 436.5. First year Haleigh Wixson and Lauren Boyce finished 2-3 in the 100 back for Geneseo with times of 58.59 and 59.87, respectively, while junior Kaitlin Wilcoxen swam third in the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.73. Geneseo concludes the meet on Saturday.
