BLUE KNIGHTS FIGHT CANCER

On Friday night, the Geneseo Blue Knights women's and men's basketball programs ask fans to help support their efforts to defeat their toughest opponent: cancer.

When the Potsdam Bears visit the Carl Schrader Gymnasium at 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Geneseo basketball participates in the annual collegiate basketball fundraisers, Play 4Kay for the women and Coaches vs. Cancer for the men, benefitting cancer research, prevention, education and awareness.

Members of Geneseo's Colleges Against Cancer and Relay for Life organizations will aid the Blue Crew in distributing important prevention and warning signs literature, collecting donations from fans and distributing prizes to select donors at the event. Participants will be able to purchase a link on Geneseo's chain-of-hope in memory of a loved one who has battled this disease, as well as sign a banner in their memory.  Participants will also be able to help craft oragami cranes, in accordance with the legend that construction of a 1,000 paper cranes grants a wish - a cure for this devastating disease. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in addition to their traditional blue and white in support of our efforts.
