The women's softball team dropped a pair of games on Thursday in Clermont, Florida to fall to 1-5 on the season. In the opener, Bowdoin scored five times in the fifth inning to break open a close game on the way to an 8-2 win. Geneseo trailed 2-1 after Jenna Reilley walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and was doubled home by junior Jess Steubing. The Knights added a run late in the game when KK Schaus doubled and later scored on a fielding error. Junior Mary Bostwick started and allowed five runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings and Katie Gallagher allowed four hits, three runs, one earned with a walk and a strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. In the second game, Rensselaer pounded out 12 hits on their way to a 12-1 win. Geneseo scored their lone run on an RBI single by Steubing after a double by sophomore Sam Trapasso. Junior Alexa Salzman allowed five runs on five hits with two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings and Gallagher gave up seven runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Geneseo completes their trip with a pair of games on Friday.
