Senior KK Schaus belted a two-run homer to cap a four-run first inning as the Geneseo women's softball team won a 7-1 decision over Wisconsin-Superior, before falling to Western Connecticut in the afternoon, 10-2 in five innings. In the opener, senior Kelsey Ogden went 2-2 with two RBI, first year Abby Weiss was 2-4 with a run, junior Jess Steubing was 1-3 with a run and an RBI and sophomore Sam Trapasso had two walks and two runs scored. Junior Mary Bostwick went the distance in the circle, allowing eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts. In the second game, Western Connecticut broke open a 2-2 tie with five runs in the second inning on their way to the win. Schaus accounted for the Geneseo runs with a two-run homer in the first. Junior Alexa Salzman allowed seven runs, three earned, on seven hits and one walk in 1 2/3 innings and first year Katie Muller allowed three runs on two hits and eight walks in 3 1/3 innings. Geneseo finishes the spring break trip at 2-6 and hosts D'Youville for a doubleheader on March 28.
