The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the final version of the winter standings for the 2011-12 NCAA Division III Learfield Directors Cup and the Geneseo Blue Knights stand in 47th place of 284 scoring institutions with 215.5 points. There are approximately 440 institutions in Division III vying for Directors Cup points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
Geneseo is ranked seventh of the New York State schools behind Ithaca (14th with 378 points), Cortland (20th with 344.5 points), St. Lawrence (38th with 242.5 points), Hobart/William Smith (40th with 236 points), New York University and Skidmore (tied for 43rd with 216.5 points).
The Knights have received 80 points for fourth place in men's cross country, 54 points for 12th place in women's cross country, 39 points for a 33rd place finish in men's indoor track and field and 42.5 points for a tie for 31st place in women's swimming & diving.
The initial spring standings are scheduled for release on May 24.
