The visiting Geneseo women's softball team (5-7/1-1 SUNYAC) split their SUNYAC-opening doubleheader with Oswego (5-6/1-1 SUNYAC) this afternoon, winning the first game 10-1 in six innings and falling in the nightcap, 9-3. In the opener, Geneseo scored three runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings to secure the win and junior Mary Bostwick tossed a one-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts to earn the win in the circle. Junior Jane LePage led the attack after going 2-3 with a double and three RBI. Sophomore Sam Trapasso was 1-3 with a two-run homer, junior Jess Steubing was 2-3 with two RBI and first year Kayleigh Blersch was 1-3 with two runs and two RBI. In the second game, Oswego broke open a 4-3 lead with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory as junior Katie Gallagher allowed seven hits, four earned runs of six with two walks and five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Junior Alexa Salzman came on in relief and allowed three unearned runs on two hits. Senior KK Schaus was 2-3 with a double, Trapasso went 2-4 and junior Lexi Williams was 1-4 with a run and an RBI. Geneseo travels to Cortland on Saturday.
