Outdoor Track & Field
The distance runners of the outdoor track and field team traveled to the Bucknell Open on Saturday and Sunday, running against primarily Division I competition. Senior Eddie Novara highlighted the performances by finishing third of 125 runners in the 5,000 meters in 14:25.78, which is currently the fastest time posted in Division III this season. Senior Lee Berube placed fourth of 63 runners in the 10,000 meters in a time of 29:48.95, a new SUNYAC and school record and the fourth best time of the season in Division III. Junior Alex Brimstein was 20th of 42 runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:28.74 and junior Tom Clark was 30th of 90 runners in the 1,500 meters in 3:56.86. On the women's side, junior Marissa Liberati was 10th of 81 runners in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:14.27, which currently stands sixth in Division III, senior Ashley Jones ran 21st of 33 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:25.76 and junior Brigid Heenan and first year Alyssa Knott placed 23rd in 38:18.62 and 24th in 38:44.79, respectively, of 31 runners in the 10,000 meters. First year Keira Wood claimed the 11th spot on the NCAA Division III season lists with a 2:13.24 in the 800 meters and senior Kelly Brunscheen stands 12th nationally in the same event after a 2:13.34. The Blue Knights host the Geneseo Open on Saturday.
The women's tennis team completed their trip to New York City with an 8-1 loss to NJCAA Division I ASA Jr. College. The Avengers, ranked seventh in the latest ITA Junior College Poll, swept the doubles matches and all contested singles matches. Geneseo's Minxuan Yuan won by default at sixth singles. The Blue Knights host William Smith on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
