Buffalo State's Karen Shaddock scored 10 goals with two assists to lead the host Bengals (9-5/2-3 SUNYAC) past the Geneseo women's lacrosse team, 17-11. Sophomore Caroline Buonocore scored five goals with three draw controls to pace Geneseo and sophomore Emily Haggerty added three goals, one assist and three draws. Junior Rachel Petrone, sophomore Meredith Weber and first year Katey Hart scored one goal each, with Petrone controlling a team-high four draws. Buffalo State jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Blue Knights responded to score three of four goals to trail 7-5. The Bengals netted the final two goals of the first half to take a 9-5 lead. In the second stanza, Hart scored with 16:49 to bring Geneseo within three at 11-8, but the Bengals scored six straight goals over the next 12 minutes to take command of the contest. Buonocore ended the spurt with her fourth goal with 3:08 to play and the Knights added two late scores to make the final. Junior Julie Bernatzky made 15 saves in taking the loss as Geneseo falls to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in SUNYAC. The Blue Knights host the RIT Tigers on Thursday at 4 p.m.
