Junior Rachel Petrone scored five goals and sophomore Caroline Buonocore added four goals and two assists with four draw controls to lead the Geneseo women's lacrosse team past the visiting RIT Tigers (7-6), 17-14, to give head coach Carly Ritchlin her 100th career win. Ritchlin has a 95-43 record in her ninth season at Geneseo after posting a 5-6 mark in one year at RIT. Sophomore Emily Haggerty netted two goals and three assists, first year Katie Hart scored two goals and one assist, junior Lea Paris added one goal and two assists and sophomore Meredith Weber collected two goals for Geneseo's balanced attack. RIT got four goals and one assist from Loren Azlein and four goals from Shelby Vakiener. Geneseo opened the game with two goals, but RIT struck quickly with two of their own for a 2-2 game after 4:09. The Blue Knights scored three straight over the next four minutes to take command of the contest and never trailed. RIT got within two goals at 9-7 with 2:26 to play in the first half and at 16-14 with 2:01 left in the game. Junior Julie Bernatzky got the win for Geneseo by making seven saves, while Katelyn Crane stopped 13 shots for the Tigers in absorbing the loss. Geneseo moves to 7-5 on the season and travels to New Paltz on Saturday.
