The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the final version of the of the 2011-12 NCAA Division III Learfield Directors Cup standings and the Geneseo Blue Knights finished in 54th place of 317 scoring institutions with 309.50 points. There are approximately 440 institutions in Division III vying for Directors Cup points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
Geneseo finished fifth of the New York State schools behind Cortland (10th with 673.50 points), Ithaca (19th with 570 points), Skidmore (36th with 409.50 points) and Hobart/William Smith (52nd with 316 points).
The Knights received 80 points for fourth place in men's cross country, 54 points for 12th place in women's cross country, 39 points for a 33rd place finish in men's indoor track and field, 42.5 points for a tie for 31st place in women's swimming & diving, 50 points for a tie for 17th place in women's tennis and 44 points for a tie for 29th place in men's outdoor track and field.
Geneseo placed 39th in 2010-11 with 370.67 points and the best finish for the Blue Knights came in 2004-05, when the program accumulated 348 points and placed 26th.
