The Geneseo women's volleyball team continued with the NYU tournament today and dropped a pair of matches, 25-19, 25-23, 25-14 to Salisbury and 22-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 to the host Violets. In the opener, junior Alex Wende had seven kills and first year Lizzy Morton added six kills to pace the attack. Senior Laura Galvin had 16 digs and junior Noelle Morrison dished out 17 assists. In the second match, Morton led the way with 11 kills and 16 digs, first year Erika Dannenfelser contributed nine kills, first year Samantha Holdredge posted 19 digs and junior Julia Gangloff handed out 27 assists. Morton received All-Tournament recognition for her efforts. The Blue Knights complete the tournament with a 1-3 record and travel to Hilbert on Wednesday.
Women's Field Hockey
The Geneseo women's field hockey team took on national power Salisbury in the championship game of the Wilkes Tournament today and dropped a 6-0 decision. Salisbury outshot the Blue Knights by a 20-5 margin. Senior Caitlyn Dowell made seven saves and allowed five goals in 42:41 of action, while first year Dayna Mercer allowed one goal and made two saves in 27:19 of play. Geneseo falls to 1-1 on the season and travels to Rochester on Friday.
The Geneseo women's soccer team took on Western Connecticut at the Farmingdale tournament this afternoon and dropped a 2-0 contest. Geneseo controlled the shots, 12-10, but allowed two goals in the first half. Junior Julia Sanger made three saves in the loss as the Blue Knights fall to 0-2-0. Geneseo takes on Allegheny at the Fredonia tournament on Friday.
The Geneseo men's soccer team opened their season with a 4-0 loss to Ohio Northern at the Penn State Behrend tournament. Ohio Northern scored one goal in the first half and erupted for three goals in the second half. Senior Nick Voggel went the distance in goal and made five saves. Geneseo plays in the consolation game on Sunday.
