Senior Shannon Spusta scored an unassisted goal just 18:35 into the match and the Geneseo women's soccer team made the lone goal stand in obtaining their first victory of the season over the host Oswego Lakers, 1-0. Spusta took the ball up the left side and shot inside the right post and junior Julia Sanger made seven saves in posting the shutout for Geneseo. The Lakers had a slim 11-10 advantage in shots, but Geneseo had a 5-4 lead in corners. The Blue Knights move to 1-9-2 overall and 1-4-1 in SUNYAC and travel to Cortland on Saturday.
The visiting Oswego Lakers (4-8-1/3-3-1 SUNYAC) rallied from a goal down by scoring three times in the second half to defeat the Geneseo men's soccer team by a score of 3-2. After controlling much of the play in the first half, Geneseo took a 1-0 lead at 30:26 when first year Jaisen Clark crossed the ball in the middle of the scoring area and junior Ryan Yurchak finished from 10 yards out. In the second half, Oswego gained the momentum and scored three times in an eight minute span to take command of the contest. Geneseo notched their second goal with 8:17 to play when junior Pat Lynch sent a corner kick into the box and junior Mat Rough headed the cross into the left corner for a 3-2 game. Senior Nick Voggel made two saves in taking the loss as Geneseo falls to 3-8-2 overall and 1-4-1 in SUNYAC.
