Women's Field Hockey

Junior Kerry Hosford handed out two assists as the Geneseo women's field hockey team won their fourth straight and ninth of the last ten games with a 2-0 victory over host Oswego this afternoon. The Blue Knights scored their goals just 1:24 apart in the first half as Hosford fed first year Kailey Suhr on the left post at 27:52 for a 1-0 lead and assisted junior Bridget McGovern's penalty corner goal at the 29:16 mark. Geneseo held a 20-0 advantage in shots and a 17-1 tally in penalty corners. First year Dayna Mercer got the shutout in goal. Geneseo moves to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in SUNYAC and travels to Cortland on Saturday.


Men's Soccer

The Geneseo men's soccer team scored a pair of second half goals in a 2-1 victory over the host Plattsburgh (15-2-0/6-2-0 SUNYAC) to hand the Cardinals just their second loss of the season this afternoon. After a scoreless opening half, Geneseo got on the board just 1:27 into the second stanza when sophomore Jason Iannone notched his first goal of the season. At 66:49, the Blue Knights took a 2-0 lead when first year Stanley Egbuchulam netted his first career goal for Geneseo off an assist by sophomore Neil Allen. The Cardinals, who tallied 12 shots to just five for Geneseo, broke the shutout with only 2:17 to play in the contest. Senior Nick Voggel made four saves to earn the win as Geneseo advances to 5-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in SUNYAC play. The Blue Knights travel to Potsdam on Saturday.


Women's Soccer

After a scoreless first half, visiting Plattsburgh (6-9-1/2-5-0 SUNYAC) scored three times in a 12-minute span of the second half on the way to a 3-1 victory over the Geneseo women's soccer team this afternoon. The Cardinals struck at 50:04 on a corner kick header by Emily LaLone, added a goal at 60:16 when a deflected ball went towards the Geneseo goal and Kristie Pageau chipped it over on-rushing junior goalkeeper Julia Sanger and completed the onslaught at 62:04 when Pageau headed Cassidy Clavet's chipped cross from six yard line. Geneseo got on the board at 84:32 when senior defender Katie Beale scored her first career goal on a headed off sophomore Brittany Young's corner kick. Sanger made five saves in 67:34 of play and sophomore Allison Stamp stopped one shot in the final 22:26 of play for Geneseo. The Blue Knights fall to 1-10-3 overall and 1-5-2 in SUNYAC and host Potsdam on Saturday.
