Fredonia, N.Y. -- The Geneseo men's and women's cross country teams both won State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) cross country titles Saturday. The men's team, winners of four consecutive conference championships, scored 20 points to top the 10-team field and the women's team -- whose 45 points beat nine other entrants -- won the league crown for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
The men's team, ranked fifth nationally, swept the top three places with five top-10 finishers and seven runners in the top 14. Alex Brimstein won Geneseo's fourth straight individual SUNYAC title, crossing the line in 26:25.08. Chris Mateer and Tom Clark took second and third place, with respective times of 26:26.45 and 26:32.47. Ryan Moynihan (fifth in 26:38.75) and Tim Chambers (ninth in 26:56.64) turned in top-10 showings. Patrick and Brenden Wortner rounded out the Blue Knights' top seven with times of 27:04.68 and 27:10.28; they finished 13th and 14th, respectively.
The championship was the Blue Knights' 12th.

The 13th-ranked women's team put seven runners in the top 15, paced by Cassie Goodman's fourth-place finish in 23:29.90. Ashton Hughes took eighth in 24:09.57 and Brigid Heenan placed 10th in 24:11.43. Cailin Kowalewski (24:11.74) and Rebekah Steinke (24:15.49) were 11th and 12th, respectively, with Alyssa Knott (24:18.68) and Mary Aldridge (24:20.51) finishing 14th and 15th.
