Oswego Wins Battle Of Nationally Ranked Ice Hockey Teams

GENESEO, N.Y. -- The #25 Geneseo ice hockey team (3-2-1, 2-1-1 SUNYAC) lost for the first time in five games, dropping a 10-1 decision to #2 Oswego (4-0-0, 3-0-0 SUNYAC) in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday. Geneseo's four-game unbeaten streak had been the longest current stretch in Division III.

Senior Brandon Angotti (Stamford, Conn./Springfield Falcons) scored Geneseo's goal after the visiting Lakers had taken a 4-0 lead. Angotti's score, a power play goal, was the first allowed by Oswego in over 150 minutes. First year Nate Brown (Bethel Park, Pa./Bay State Breakers) and junior Rich Manley (Buffalo/Burnaby Express) assisted on the goal.

All three Geneseo goals saw action. Senior Adrian Rubeniuk (Grandview, Man./Dauphin Kings) stopped 13 shots with sophomore Bryan Haude (Hilton/Hilton Wolfpack) recording three saves. First year Nick Horrigan (Mount Forest, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) made his collegiate debut and made 14 saves while playing the third period.

Geneseo's six-game home stand continues Friday with a non-league game against #16 Elmira.
