Buffalo, N.Y. – The
Geneseo men’s basketball team (2-1) won its second straight game in record-setting fashion Saturday, erupting for a 120-66 win at D’Youville
(0-4). The Blue Knights' 120 points were one short of the program's 36-year-old school record.
Seven players scored in double figures for Geneseo; the Blue Knights shot a school-record 72.5 percent from the floor, making 50 of 69 shots. Senior forward Ryan Riefenhauser (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) made all eight of his shots and sophomore forward Devon Anderson (Plattsburgh/Beekmantown), who scored a career-best 19 points off the bench, made nine of 11 shots while playing just 12 minutes.
The Blue Knights dominated the boards, outrebounding the Spartans 51-25. Riefenhauser led the way with nine rebounds. He also had eight of Geneseo’s season-best 26 assists.
Junior guard Connor Fedge (Bellport/Bellport) collected season-high totals of 19 points, six assists and six
rebounds. Junior forward Matt Curry (Greenlawns/Harborfield) came off the bench to score 16 points and pull down six rebounds. Sophomore forward James McKenna (Huntington/St. Anthony’s) had 12 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots off the bench and sophomore forward Gordon Lyons (Amherst/Canisius) added 11 points. Junior forward Jordan Jones (Rochester/McQuaid Academy) finished with 10 points.
Sophomore guard Andy Drescher (Christian Brothers Academy/Fayetteville) and first year guard Connor Keenan (East Amherst/Williamsville East) added six points apiece. Keenan and first year guard Kevin Zabransky (Huntington/St. Anthony’s), who scored three points, both posted career-best scoring totals.
The Blue Knights are shooting 61.4 percent from the floor this season, making 113 of their 184 shots.
Geneseo returns to action Wednesday in the opening round of the Wendy’s Classic. The Blue Knights will face Nazareth at 6 p.m. in a first-round game at St. John Fisher.
