Pittsford, N.Y. – The Geneseo women’s basketball team (3-0) remained unbeaten
with a 75-50 win over Nazareth (1-3) in the opening round of the Wendy’s
College Classic. The Blue Knights advance to play William
Smith in a semifinal game to be played Thursday at Rochester.
Senior guard Melissa
Graham (Orchard Park/Mount Mercy) and sophomore forward Shannon McGinnis (Walworth/Gananda)
both scored 14 points as Geneseo shot 51.8 percent from the floor and posted a
winning margin of at least 25 points for the third time in as many outings.
First year forward Allison McKenna (Huntington/John Glenn) added 12 points.
Sophomore guard Biz Reinhardt (Rochester/Hilton) and first year guard Dana
Cohan (Rochester/Greece Athena) both added eight points. Cohan’s total off the
bench was a career high.
Graham’s six rebounds led Geneseo who outrebounded the Golden Flyers 42-26 and
own a margin of +26.7 rebounds per game this season. McGinnis and McKenna both
pulled down five rebounds.
First year guard Amelia Heiselman (Central Square/Bishop Grimes) led Geneseo
with a career-high six assists.
