Pittsford,
N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s basketball team (2-2) lost for the first time since
its season opener, falling to Nazareth (4-1) in the opening round of the Wendy’s
College Classic Wednesday at St. John Fisher. The Blue Knights will host a
consolation round game Friday at Schrader Gymnasium, facing Roberts Wesleyan at 8 p.m. That game will follow a 6 p.m. game between Rochester
Institute of Technology and Brockport.
Sophomore forward Gordon Lyons (Amherst/Canisius) collected career-best totals of
21 points and 14 rebounds for the Blue Knights. Junior guard Connor Fedge (Bellport/Bellport)
added 13 points. Fedge’s lay-up with 12:15 left gave Geneseo its last lead,
capping a 12-5 run.
Junior forward Matt Curry (Greenlawn/Harborfields) scored 13 points off the bench;
he’s scored 29 points in just 32 minutes over the last two games.
The Blue Knights led by as many as six points in a first half that saw seven
lead changes.
