– The Geneseo men’s swimming & diving team (2-4) dropped a 136-97 decision
at Division I Canisius Saturday.
The Blue Knights recorded five first-place finishes, with senior Frank Schiappa
(East Amherst/Canisius) contributing to two of them. He won the 100-yard
freestyle in 48.08 and swam the first leg of Geneseo’s 400-yard freestyle relay
that posted a winning time of 3:21.81.
Sophomore Kenny Athans (Victor/Victor), senior Austin Brennan (Stony Brook/Ward
Melville) and first year Tyler Roth (Fredonia/St. Francis) joined Schiappa on
the first-place 400 freestyle relay team.
First year Ben Greenspan (Williamsville/Williamsville South) took first in the
500-yard freestyle (5:08.78), junior Brandon Peifer (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury)
won the 3-meter diving with a score of 266.32 and senior Greg Marks (Phelps/Midlakes)
touched first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.58).
The Blue Knights are idle until competing at Rochester Institute of Technology
Jan. 11-12 against New Paltz and the host Tigers.
