Women's Swimming & Diving Splits Double Dual At RIT

Rochester, N.Y. – The Geneseo women’s swimming & diving team (3-5) split a pair of dual meets in a weekend triangular against New Paltz and host Rochester Institute of Technology. The Knights beat the host Tigers 273-83 and lost to New Paltz 180.5 to 159.5.

Junior Emily Wanamaker (Camillus/Christian Brothers Academy) swept the diving events, scoring 386.6 in the one-meter competition and 405.70 in the three-meter event.

Three other Knights were individual winners. Sophomore Abby Max (New Hartford/New Hartford) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.37, sophomore Eileen Goralski (Queensbury/Queensbury) placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.69) and senior Kaitlin Wilcoxen (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) posted a winning time of 1:08.45 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Max also swam on both of Geneseo’s victorious relay teams, anchoring the 400-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay units. The 400 free relay, which also included first year Julie Holloway (Pittsford/Rush-Henrietta), junior Corinne Vairo (Poquott/Ward Melville) and sophomore Haleigh Wixson (Montour Falls/Watkins Glen), took first in 3:41.77. Wixson, Wilcoxen and junior Lily Powell (Selkirk/Bethlehem) joined Max to record a first-place time of 1:52.50 in the 200 medley relay.

The Knights return to action Sunday, hosting Monroe Community College.
