GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s basketball team (12-5, 8-2
SUNYAC) held off a second-half challenge from visiting Fredonia (5-10, 1-8
SUNYAC) in a 77-64 win Tuesday. With the victory, the Knights remain alone in
first place in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
standings.
The Blue Devils hit their first five three-point attempts in the second half
(they finished six of eight in the period and 11 of 15 overall) as they cut
Geneseo’s 15-point lead to a five-point advantage, pulling to within 55-50 with
12:31 left. The Knights responded with nine straight points and led by at least
12 points the rest of the way.
Junior guard Connor Fedge (Bellport/Bellport) scored a game-high 16 points and
added four steals and three assists. Senior forward Ryan Riefenhauser (Dobbs
Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) added 12 points and led all players with nine rebounds.
Junior guard Jordan Jones (Rochester/McQuaid Academy) and sophomore forward
Gordon Lyons (Amherst/Canisius) both scored 10 points. Lyons pulled down seven
rebounds.
Junior forward Matt Curry (Greenlawn/Harborfields) contributed nine points off
the bench. Junior guard Thomas Decker (White Plains/Archbishop Stepanic) led
Geneseo with five assists.
Geneseo hosts New Paltz in an 8 p.m. game Friday.
