GENESEO, N.Y. – The #15 Geneseo ice hockey team (14-6-1,
10-2-1 SUNYAC) won for the 11th time in 13 games, beating visiting Brockport 3-1 Friday in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
The Knights have allowed just 17 goals in their last 13 games; the Golden
Eagles were the 10th Geneseo opponent held to one goal or fewer this season.
First year Alex Lubczuk (Kitchener, Ont./Georgetown Raiders) led the Knights
with a goal and an assist. He assisted on a goal by sophomore forward Tyler
Brickler (Riverwoods, Ill./UMass-Lowell) with 9:08 left to play that put
Geneseo up for good, then closed out the game’s scoring with his second goal of
the season.
Senior Garry Childerhose (Altoona, Man./Melfort Mustangs) got the Knights on
the board early, scoring the first goal of his career on the power play with first
year David Ripple (Winter Springs, Fla./Coulee Region Chill) and senior forward
Kaz Iwamoto (Tomakomai, Japan/Wyoming Seminary) assisting.
After Brockport tied the score on a power-play goal, Brickler scored his
eighth goal of the year.
Ripple and first year forward Ryan Donnelly (Stittsville, Ont./Kanata Stallions)
assisted on Lubczuk’s goal.
Sophomore Bryan Haude (Hilton/Hartford Wolfpack) stopped 25 shots, lowering his
goals-against average to 1.99.
The Knights return to action Saturday, hosting Canton at 7 p.m.
