Brockport, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s track & field team
placed sixth of 13 teams at the Brockport Invitational, with the Knights
recording 13 top-10 finishes.
Senior Alex Brimstein (Webster/Webster-Thomas) turned in Geneseo’s top finish,
winning the 3,000-meter run in 8:41.38. He edged out senior Chris Mateer (Webster/Webster-Thomas),
who took second in 8:41.40, by two-hundredths of a second.
Two other Knights were in the top 10: sophomore Cohen Miles-Rauth was eighth in
8:56.21 and first year Brendan Wortner (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) placed 10th in
8:58.34.
Brimstein also placed fourth in the mile run with a clocking of 4:23.87. He was
followed by sophomores Billy Gabriel (Syracuse/West Genesee) and Chaz Abad (East
Setauket/Ward Melville), who were fifth and seventh with respective times of
4:28.74 and 4:30.33.
Senior Brendan Murphy (Katonah/Iona Prep) took fifth in the weight throw with a
mark of 14.60 meters (47-11) and first year Aidan Fullerton (Yorktown/Yorktown)
was seventh in the heptathlon, scoring 3,778 points.
In the 800-meter run, junior Anthony George (West Seneca West/West Seneca) was
eighth in 1:59.27 and sophomore Ryan Moynihan (Geneseo/Geneseo) took 10th in
2:00.97.
Senior Joseph Biscardi rounded out Geneseo’s top-10 individual finishers,
clearing 3.95 meters (12-11 1/2) in the pole vault to place ninth.
The Knights recorded a fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter relay with the
quartet of sophomore Tim Mateer (Webster/Webster-Thomas), Chris Mateer, senior
Tim Chambers (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and Miles-Rauth finishing in 8:30.75.
The Knights return to action Saturday, competing at Tufts’
Cupid Challenge Meet.
