Geneseo Drops Season-Opening Men's Lacrosse Game

Pittsford, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s lacrosse team (0-1) opened its season Tuesday, losing 12-3 at St. John Fisher (1-0).

The Knights were led by first year attack Drew Huntington (Penfield/Penfield), who collected the first goal and first assist of his career. Sophomore midfielder Steve Aziz (Jamesville/Jamesville-DeWitt) opened the game’s scoring with an unassisted goal 1:26 into play.

Huntington’s goal, an unassisted score in the second quarter, snapped a run of three straight Cardinal goals and pulled Geneseo to 3-2. He assisted on a fourth-quarter goal by sophomore attack Sam Thompson (Queensbury/Queensbury).

Senior Michael Greubel (North Merrick/Mepham) made 11 saves in goal. Sophomore attack Steve Cregan (Rochester/Brighton) led Geneseo with four ground balls.

Senior defenseman Jeff Dunworth (Katonah/John Jay) collected a career-high three caused turnovers.

The Knights are idle until Wednesday, Feb. 27, when they play a 3:30 p.m. game at Lycoming.
