School-Record Time For Distance Medley Relay Highlights Women's Track & Field Outing

 

Medford, Mass. – The Geneseo women’s track & field team won the distance medley relay at Saturday’s Tufts Last Chance Invitational, posting the nation’s second-fastest time and lowering the school record by more than 11 seconds.

The quartet of sophomore Keira Wood (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North), junior Allison Hoh (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima), senior Cailin Kowalewski (Fredonia/Fredonia) and graduate student Alyssa Smith (Rochester/Brighton) posted a time of 11:40.49, bettering their school mark of 11:51.64 from earlier this season with an NCAA Championships qualying performance.

The Knights recorded three other top-10 performances with Kowalewski finishing fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.27.

Kowalewski also ran the first leg of Geneseo’s 1,600-meter relay that placed eighth in a time of 4:12.09. She was followed by first year Kylie Ryan (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon), Smith and Wood.

First year Shannon Murphy (Jamestown/Falconer) finished sixth in 5:12.69.
