Shenandoah, Texas – Four Geneseo swimmers competed during Saturday’s preliminary competition on the final day of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The Knights’ performance was highlighted by junior Kaitlin Wilcoxen (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius), who qualified for the final in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Wilcoxen recorded the 14th-fastest time during the morning preliminaries, finishing in 2:20.24.
Sophomore Eileen Goralski (Queensbury/Queensbury) also competed in
the 200-yard breaststroke, placing 26th in a time of 2:25.51.
Sophomore Haleigh Wixson (Montour Falls/Watkins Glen) competed in the 100-yard freestyle, placing 36th in a time of 52.74.
Geneseo’s 400-yard freestyle relay team placed 17th in the preliminaries, missing a spot in the finals – and all-America honors – by .28 seconds. The quartet of sophomore Abby Max (New Hartford/New Hartford), senior Elyssa Max (New Hartford/New Hartford), junior Lily Powell (Selkirk/Bethlehem) and Wixson posted a time of 3:30.67.
The Knights are 18th in the team standings.
Eight Knights are competing in a total of 13 events at the NCAA Championships, which conclude Saturday night.
