Host Oswego Edges Women's Lacrosse

Oswego, N.Y. – The 19th-ranked Geneseo women’s lacrosse team (5-3, 0-2 SUNYAC) dropped a 13-12 decision in two overtimes to host Oswego (4-4, 1-1 SUNYAC) Thursday in a State University of Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game.

The Knights forced overtime on a goal by junior midfielder Meredith Weber (Bellport/Bellport) with 16 seconds left. Weber’s goal – her third of the game and 19th of the season – came 39 seconds after the host Lakers had completed a 4-0 run that gave them a 12-11 lead.

Junior midfielder Emily Haggerty (Syracuse/Westhill) led the Knights with four goals and an assist, raising her scoring totals to a team-high 33 this spring and 143 in her career. Her assist was the 50th of her career. She also led Geneseo with five ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Sophomore attack Katey Hart (Syracuse/West Genesee) and junior attack Caroline Buonocore (Syracuse/Westhill) both collected a goal and an assist. Buonocore is now tied for fourth on the program’s all-time list with 175 points.

Senior Julie Bernatzky (Mount Sinai/Mount Sinai) stopped four shots in goal.

The Knights return to action Tuesday with a 4 p.m. SUNYAC game at Fredonia.
