N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s track & field team recorded 20 top-10 finishes
including two wins to lead the Knights to a fifth-place finish at the 12-team
Senior Alex Brimstein (Webster/Thomas) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships qualifying time of 9:13.74. His performance ranks sixth nationally this spring. Senior Brendan Murphy (Katonah/Iona Prep) placed first in the shot put (13.57 meters/44-6 1/4). Murphy also placed fourth in the hammer (43.72 meters/143-5) and fifth in the discus (35.57 meters/116-8).
Sophomore Ryan Moynihan (Geneseo/Geneseo) finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run (4:05.05) and eighth in the 800-meter run (1:59.88).
Sophomore Phil Longo (Dansville/Dansville) was seventh in the high jump (1.84 meters/6-0 1/2) and ninth in the long jump (6.13 meters/20-1 1/2).
Mike Mattiucci (Webster/Thomas) was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase (9:52.47). First year Brendan Wortner (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry)
took fourth in the 5,000-meter run (15:44.97).
Senior Jesse Cleary-Krell (Syracuse/Westhill) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.38) and sophomore Adrian Bergere (Bethlehem/Delmar) placed fifth in the javelin (39.24 meters/128-9).
Anthony George (West Seneca/West Seneca West) and Tim Chambers (Baldwinsville/C.W.
Baker) were sixth and ninth in the 1,500-meter run with respective times of
4:06.91 and 4:11.01. George also finished seventh in the 400-meter dash
Sophomore Christian Igielinski (Perrysburg/Gowanda) and first year Alex Hahn were third and 10th in the 400-meter hurdles, posting times of 56.32 and 1:00.77.
First year Michael Segelin was eighth in the triple jump (11.58 meters/38-0).
Geneseo’s 400-meter relay – Longo, Cleary-Krell, junior Nicholas Hoffman (Williamsville/Williamsville South) and senior Ian Besso (Sayville/Sayville) – took sixth in 45.19 and the 1,600-meter relay team of sophomore Chaz Abad (East Setauket/Ward Melville), Besso, sophomore Chris Brunscheen and senior Chris Carter (Grand Island/Grand Island) placed ninth in 3:33.82.
