Top-Ranked Cortland Posts Men's Lacrosse Win

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo men's lacrosse team (5-5, 2-1 SUNYAC) lost 14-3 to top-ranked Cortland (12-0, 4-0 SUNYAC) Wednesday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game.

Sophomore attack Sam Thompson (Queensbury/Queensbury) scored a pair of goals to lead Geneseo.

Sophomore midfielder Steve Aziz (Jamesville/Jamesville-DeWitt) contributed a goal and an assist and sophomore attack Steven Cregan (Rochester/Brighton) added an assist.

Senior midfielder Tim Burgess (Syracuse/Westhill) led the Knights with seven ground balls and Cregan picked up five.

Senior midfielder Bob Mascia (East Aurora/East Aurora) led Geneseo with a pair of caused turnovers.

Junior Ryan Zaremba (Bay Shore/Army Prep) stopped nine shots while playing the first 51 minutes in goal.

The Knights play a 1 p.m. game at Potsdam Saturday.
