Potsdam, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s lacrosse team (5-6, 2-2 SUNYAC) lost 11-10 to host Potsdam (6-5, 2-2 SUNYAC) Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday.
The Knights took a 9-7 lead into the final period before the host Bears scored three straight goals to take a 10-9 lead. Sophomore midfielder Steve Aziz (Jamesville/Jamesville-DeWitt) tied the game with 5:32 left before Potsdam picked up the game-winner with 1:31 left to play. Sophomore attack Steven Cregan (Rochester/Brighton), who assisted on Aziz’ goal, led the Knights with four points on a goal and three assists.
Sophomore attack Brent Lawless (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) scored three goals and sophomore attack Sam Thompson (Queensbury/Queensbury) added a pair of goals and an assist.
Senior midfielder Tim Burgess (Syracuse/Westhill) scored two goals and led Geneseo with eight ground balls. Senior midfielder John Felix (Scarsdale/Scarsdale) picked up six ground balls; he and junior defenseman Kyle Kerrigan (West Islip/West Islip) both caused two turnovers.
Junior Ryan Zaremba (Bay Shore/Army Prep) made nine saves.
The Knights host Brockport Wednesday at 4 p.m.
