Oneonta, N.Y. – The #22 Geneseo women’s lacrosse team (9-4, 3-3 SUNYAC) evened its conference record with an 18-11 win at Oneonta (8-7, 3-4 SUNYAC) in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday.
Junior attack Caroline Buonocore (Syracuse/Westhill) scored three goals, raising her career total to a school-record 157.
Junior attack Meredith Weber (Bellport/Bellport) scored a career-high six goals to lead Geneseo, who scored seven of the game’s first eight goals and opened up a 13-4 halftime lead.
Weber, who now has 32 goals on the season, scored three times in a 6-0 run by the Knights that broke an early 1-1 tie.
Sophomore attack Katey Hart (Syracuse/West Genesee) and senior midfielder Rachel Petrone (Rochester/Penfield) both scored two goals and added an assist and junior midfielder Emily Haggerty (Syracuse/Westhill) added a goal and two assists.
Senior Julie Bernatzky (Mount Sinai/Mount Sinai) made 11 saves in goal.
The Red Dragons scored the first two goals of the second half to pull to within 13-6 but the Knights ran off five unanswered goals to put the game out of reach.
Geneseo hosts Buffalo State Tuesday at 4 p.m.
