Brockport Rallies For Overtime Win In Men's Lacrosse

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo men's lacrosse team (5-7, 2-3 SUNYAC) lost 6-5 in overtime to visiting Brockport (5-8, 2-3 SUNYAC) Wednesday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game.

The Golden Eagles tied the score with just a second left in regulation and scored on their second overtime possession.

Sophomore Sam Thompson (Queensbury/Queensbury) scored three goals including a score four minutes into the fourth quarter that put Geneseo up 5-3. Sophomore Steven Cregan (Rochester/Brighton) assisted on Thompson’s last two goals, raising his career total to 60 assists. He’s the 12th Knight to reach that total.

Junior Ryan Zaremba (Bay Shore/Army Prep) stopped 15 shots and picked up five ground balls in his 62 minutes of play.

Junior defender Kyle Kerrigan (West Islip/West Islip) led Geneseo with six ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Senior midfielder John Felix (Scarsdale/Scarsdale), who scored his sixth goal of the season to give the Knights their first lead, also caused three turnovers.

Junior midfielder Joe Cicio (Northport/Northport) added four ground balls.

Sophomore attack Brent Lawless (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) added a goal and sophomore Andre Keating (Ithaca/Ithaca) and senior midfielder Chris Topping (Webster/Schroeder) both contributing an assist.

The Knights wrap up their regular season Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at #20 Plattsburgh.
