Men's Lacrosse Closes Season With Loss At Plattsburgh

Plattsburgh, N.Y. – The Geneseo men's lacrosse team (5-8, 2-5 SUNYAC) closed its season with a 13-5 loss at #20 Plattsburgh Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game.

The Knights scored the game’s first goal and fought back from the host Cardinals’ 4-1 second-quarter lead to pull to within 5-3 early in the second half before Plattsburgh scored nine of the next 10 goals.

Sophomore midfielder Zach Yehl (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) scored a pair of goals to lead Geneseo and sophomore attack Steven Cregan (Rochester/Brighton) added two assists. He finished the season with 27 assists, raising his career total to 62 and moving into 11th on the program’s all-time list.

Senior midfielder Tim Burgess (Syracuse/Westhill), sophomore attacks Brent Lawless (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) and Andre Keating (Ithaca/Ithaca) each scored a goal.

Junior Ryan Zaremba (Bay Shore/Army Prep) recorded a career-high 19 saves and led the Knights with six ground balls.

Senior midfielder Chris Topping (Webster/Schroeder) also picked up six ground balls; his three caused turnovers also led the Knights.

Senior Michael Greubel (North Merrick/Mepham) stopped a pair of shots over the game’s last eight minutes.
