Ewing, N.J. – The Geneseo women's tennis team (15-3) wrapped up its regular season with a 6-3 loss at New Jersey (15-2) Saturday. The Knights are 14th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional ranking; the Lions are 15th.
The Knights, who earned an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs by winning the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship tournament, await the announcement of the NCAA playoff field which will be made Monday, May 6.
Geneseo’s three wins came in singles play.
Sophomore Zakiyyah Abdus-Salaam (Mount Vernon/The Ursuline School) remained unbeaten in singles, posting a straight-set win at the sixth spot. She’s now 12-0 at that position and 15-0 overall in singles competition.
At third singles, senior Katie Talbot (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) was a straight-set winner to raise her record to 12-4 (including a 10-4 mark at the third slot).
Sophomore Amanda Rosati (Albany/Academy of the Holy Names) won 6-4, 7-5 in fourth singles to raise her singles mark to 14-1 on the year.
