Pittsford, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s track & field team competed at St. John Fisher’s Cardinal Classic Saturday. The Knights recorded 11 top-10 finishes at the non-scoring meet.
Sophomore Billy Gabriel (Syracuse/West Genesee) recorded the team’s highest finish, placing second in the 800-meter run (1:53.65).
Sophomore Phil Longo (Dansville/Dansville) took fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.93 meters. He was joined in the top 10 by sophomore Luke Taverne (Vernon/Westmoreland), who finished sixth (1.93 meters).
Longo also took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.60 meters.
Sophomore Ryan Moynihan (Geneseo/Geneseo) placed seventh in the 800-meter run (1:57.87), junior Jake Pasanen (Troy/Averill Park) was seventh in the long jump (6.60 meters) and senior Brendan Murphy (Katonah/Iona Prep) finished seventh in the hammer throw (45.36 meters).
Senior Tim Chambers (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run (4:07.91) and first year John Sullivan was 10th in 4:10.65.
Sophomore Matt Byrnes (Syracuse/West Genesee) placed 10th in the 5,000-meter run (16:16.34) and first year Alex Hahn was 10th in the 400-meter hurdles (52.13).
The Knights compete at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) at Cortland Championships Friday and Saturday.
