Two Wins For Women's Track & Field At Cardinal Classic

Pittsford, N.Y. – The Geneseo women’s track & field team competed at St. John Fisher’s Cardinal Classic Saturday. The Knights recorded 22 top-10 finishes at the non-scoring meet, including a pair of first-place finishes.

Junior Allison Hoh (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 14.85. Sophomore Keira Wood (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North) posted a winning time of 2:13.87 in the 800-meter run.

Hoh was also third in the 200-meter dash (26.34).

Four Knights were in the top 10 in the 5,000-meter run; senior Danae Polsin (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished second in 18:37.51, sophomore Alyssa Knott (Smithtown/Smithtown West) was third in 18:42.25; first year Ashton Hughes (Fairport/Fairport) took fourth in 18:48.36 and first year Ellie Trelstad (White Plains/White Plains) placed 10th in 19:52.78.

Senior Jessica Shumway (Potsdam/Potsdam) finished third in the high jump and junior Carly Biondi (Clarence/Clarence) was fourth; both cleared 1.48 meters.

The top 10 in the 1,500-meter run included four Knights: first year Winny Chen (New York/Brooklyn Technical) took fourth in 4:55.03, junior Emma Deshaies placed sixth in 4:56.63, junior Lauren McKnight (North Massapequa/Farmingdale) finished seventh in 4:57.87 and senior Esther Lok (Woodbury/Syosset) was ninth in 5:01.97.

Junior Towi Kuberka (Clarence/Clarence) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.36) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.39).

Sophomore Elyssa Slawinski (East Northport/Northport) placed seventh in the discus throw (34.52 meters) and 10th in the hammer throw (39.75 meters) and first year Savannah Russ was 10th in the pole vault (2.80 meters).

The Knights compete at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) at Cortland Championships Friday and Saturday.
