#8 Bowdoin Rallies For NCAA Women's Lacrosse Win

Cortland, N.Y. – The #17 Geneseo women's lacrosse team (13-6) ended its season with a 10-6 loss to #8 Bowdoin in the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

The Knights, playing in their first NCAA Championship Tournament, scored the game’s first five goals before the Polar Bears rallied to end the game on a 9-1 run.

Junior attack Meredith Weber (Bellport/Bellport) led Geneseo with three goals, including a pair of scores in the Knights’ 5-0 run.

Junior attack Caroline Buonocore (Syracuse/Westhill) scored a pair of free position goals in the first half. Buonocore, who added a pair of draw controls, raised her career total to 212 points, moving into second on the program’s all-time list.

Sophomore attack Katey Hart (Syracuse/West Genesee) scored the game’s first goal and senior midfielder Rachel Petrone (Rochester/Penfield) assisted on Weber’s first goal.

Senior Julie Bernatzky (Mount Sinai/Mount Sinai) made 12 saves in goal.

Junior midfielder Emily Haggerty (Syracuse/Westhill) led the Knights with five draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Petrone also picked up three ground balls.
