All-Conference Honors For Four Geneseo Men's Lacrosse Players

Cortland, N.Y. – Four members of the Geneseo men’s lacrosse team (5-8) have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) all-star team. Sophomore attack Steven Cregan (Rochester/Brighton), senior short-stick specialist John Felix (Scarsdale/Scarsdale) and junior defender Jules Zidi (Yorktown/Yorktown) all earned second-team recognition and senior midfielder Tim Burgess (Syracuse/Westhill) received honorable mention.

Cregan was the Knights’ leading scorer, collecting 39 points on 12 goals and a team-best 29 assists. He also ranked second on the team with 41 ground balls. A two-time SUNYAC all-star (he earned first team recognition last spring in addition to picking up honors as the conference’s Rookie of the Year) has scored 87 points in his 27 career games. His 62 assists stand 11th on the program’s all-time list.

Felix, a second-team all-American in 2012, makes his second appearance on the all-league team. Despite missing three games, he collected nine points (six goals, three assists) while picking up 21 ground balls and causing eight turnovers (second on the team). In 52 games as a Knight he scored 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) and added 69 ground balls and 37 caused turnovers.

Zidi helped anchor a defense that allowed just over 10 goals per game. He picked up eight ground balls and caused three turnovers. Zidi has played in 34 games in his career, collecting 23 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Burgess led Geneseo with 70 ground balls and 72 face-off wins. He was Geneseo's fourth-leading scorer (14 goals, three assists, 17 points) while starting every game. Burgess caused seven turnovers and ranked second on the team in goals. In 41 career games he scored 51 points (37 goals, 14 assists) and picked up 113 ground balls.
