GENESEO, N.Y. –Junior Emily Haggerty (Syracuse/Westhill) of the Geneseo women’s lacrosse team (13-6) has been named to the Synapse Sports all-America team. Haggerty, the first Knight named to a women’s lacrosse all-America team, was a third-team selection as a midfielder.
Haggerty is a two-time first-team pick to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) all-conference team and a first-team selection to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) all-region team. This season she led the team with 68 points, 29 assists (the program’s second-highest single-season total), 13 free-position goals, 61 draw controls, 24 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls. Haggerty has started every game in her career and ranks among the program’s all-time leaders with178 points (fifth), 112 goals (sixth), 66 assists (second) and 149 draw controls (second).
The 13-6 Knights tied for third in the SUNYAC regular-season standings with a 5-3 record then reached the conference tournament final. They made the program’s first appearance in the NCAA playoffs, reaching the second round after beating previously undefeated Susquehanna in a first-round game.
